The basic salary of an employee like al-Jiburi is meager, just $50, and the Islamic State (IS) organization has to use other methods to maintain the loyalty of this man who is supporting nine mouths to feed.

According to the Washington Post, in a series of documents published by a research journal on April 22, al-Jiburi was identified as an employee of IS.

He had two wives. For each, he was paid $50. For each of his six children under the age of 15, al-Jiburi received an additional $35. For each sex slave he captured, he received an additional $50. With a basic salary of only $50, his total monthly income was $360, paid by ISIS in US dollars.

The documents reflect the financial difficulties that IS is facing after months of airstrikes and numerous battlefield defeats. The terrorist group is struggling to compensate its fighters and personnel, limiting its use of electricity, fuel, and other resources.

The pay slips and most of the documents were collected over the past six months, primarily in towns in Syria and Iraq that had recently been liberated from ISIS control.

A document written in October 2015, bearing the seal of the Aleppo city government in Syria, prohibits fighters from using the group's vehicles except for military operations.

Another document stated that the soldiers' homes would not have electricity 24/7 in order to conserve power for military bases.

The documents were released five months after IS leaders announced a 50% pay cut for fighters due to financial difficulties.

Aymenn Jawad al-Tamimi, a British scholar with access to the documents, said they do not reflect bonuses for some IS members serving on the battlefield, but still show the challenges the terrorist group is facing due to declining oil revenues and destroyed cash reserves.

However, according to him, it is still too early to talk about the collapse of IS.
