MU appoints manager Jose Mourinho.

According to the latest information from Sky Sports, Manchester United has appointed Jose Mourinho as the club's new head coach.

According to Sky Sports, Mourinho will be with the Old Trafford club for three seasons with a salary of £10 million per season, double what his predecessor Louis van Gaal received. Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, the "Special One's" salary is £15 million per season.

Mourinho returned home after signing the contract.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager signed his contract with Manchester United at a London hotel at around 5:00 PM local time (11:00 PM Vietnam time). Around 5:20 PM, he returned to his private residence with a stack of documents and a bottle of red wine. Mourinho was wearing a black and red tie, symbolizing the traditional colors of his new team.

Mourinho and his agent, Jorge Mendes, spent several days working with Manchester United's CEO, Ed Woodward. The two sides finally agreed on the biggest sticking point: the image rights of the Portuguese manager from his time at Chelsea.

Defender Rio Ferdinand congratulated Mourinho on his personal Facebook page.

Interestingly, exactly 12 years ago today (in 2004), Mourinho led Porto to victory in the Champions League. During that campaign, he and his Porto team defeated Manchester United in the round of 16.

Manchester United will make an official announcement regarding Mourinho's appointment today (Friday, May 27th). The Old Trafford club will need to go through the New York Stock Exchange to confirm the news.
