* Abdominal incision, removal of genitals:

At approximately 11:00 AM on May 22, 2017, the body of Nguyen Van Thao, a 24-year-old heavy drug addict residing in Hoan Ai village, Tan Viet commune, Yen My district, was discovered on the banks of the Bac Hung Hai river (the section flowing through Thuan Xuyen bridge, Phan Ha village, Bac Son commune, An Thi district, Hung Yen province) with numerous wounds. Notably, there was a deep cut on his neck, a T-shaped incision from his chest down to his abdomen... and his genitals had been severed.

During the investigation, at approximately 0:05 AM on May 23rd, the police apprehended the suspect Phan Văn Tuấn (born in 1984, residing in Lý Thường Kiệt commune, Yên Mỹ district).

According to Tuan's initial statement, on May 20th, at his home, Tuan, along with Thao and two others, used methamphetamine. After that drug "party," Tuan murdered Thao with a sharp knife. Thao died from four stab wounds to the chest and back.

Tuan further confessed that in the early morning of May 21st, he took the victim's body to the bank of the Bac Hung Hai River and stripped off her clothes. Afterward, he proceeded to slit her throat, cut open her abdomen, and mutilate her genitals with the intention of misleading investigators; if discovered, it would be difficult to determine whether the victim was male or female. Tuan had cut open Thao's abdomen before throwing the body into the river to speed up decomposition.

The suspect's act of murder was so barbaric that even the police shuddered. Tuan has been charged with murder.

On November 1, 2016, the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police issued a decision to initiate a criminal case and detain Nguyen Hoai Thanh (born in 1986, residing in Thanh Khe District, Da Nang City) for four months to investigate the act of murder. Previously, at around 10:00 AM on October 29, while under the influence of methamphetamine, Thanh used a shovel to strike Vo Thi Thuy Van (born in 1982, residing in Thanh Khe District) in the face at a rented room on Hoa Nam 6 Street, Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City.

After the victim died, Thanh dragged the body from the hallway into the rented room, closed the door, and left. Residents in the neighboring rented rooms witnessed the entire incident and reported it to the authorities.

When the police broke down the door to the rented room, they discovered that Ms. Van had died. The Lien Chieu District Police, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police, are relentlessly searching for the perpetrator.

Initially, at the police station, Thanh admitted that while under the influence of drugs, he killed Ms. Van, mistaking her for a snake. The investigating agency also stated that Ms. Van was divorced and, prior to the incident, had rented a room and lived with Thanh as a lover.

On October 24, 2016, the People's Court of Nghe An province held a first-instance criminal trial to hear the case of Xeo Van Nhi (born in 1996, residing in Na Loi commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province) on the charge of "murder". Nhi's victim was his own nephew, Xeo Van Khinh, who was just over 15 months old.

Through the investigation, it was revealed that on the evening of November 20, 2015, while out playing, Nhi was given a drug pill by two Laotians. Afterward, Nhi returned home. Around 11 PM, while watching television, Nhi stood up, kicked and broke a light bulb, and then cursed at her older brother, Xeo Van Loi. Seeing Nhi's unusual behavior, Loi ran to find help.

At that moment, Nhi heard the crying of baby Xeo Van Khinh (Lợi's son) and pushed open the door to the room. Nhi snatched the baby from her sister-in-law's arms and slammed him against a pillar. After committing the crime, Nhi fled to the mountains. At approximately 2 PM on November 21, 2015, Xeo Van Nhi was arrested by the Kỳ Sơn District Police.

According to the conclusion of the Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry, prior to committing the crime, the defendant Xeo Van Nhi did not have a mental illness. While committing the crime, the defendant suffered from a psychotic disorder due to the use of hallucinogenic substances. The defendant lost the ability to perceive and control his behavior.

At the trial, Xeo Van Nhi was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder.

* Killed four family members (grandmother and two grandchildren) while high on drugs.

On the evening of September 26, 2016, the Hai Phong Police, in coordination with the Quang Ninh Provincial Police, arrested Doan Trung Dung (45 years old) under a special arrest warrant. He has two previous convictions and is suspected of murdering four family members (a grandmother and her three grandchildren) in a two-story house in Phuong Nam Ward, Uong Bi City.

At approximately 7:00 AM on September 24th, Ms. Vu Thi Thanh (33 years old) returned home and discovered her mother, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hat (61 years old), along with her two children and grandchild, dead inside the house. Upon examination, relatives found that Ms. Hat's earrings and gold ring were missing. The house showed signs of being ransacked. The Quang Ninh Provincial Police and the professional forces of the Ministry of Public Security determined this to be a serious case of murder and robbery.

At 9:15 PM on September 26th, Hai Phong police discovered and arrested the 45-year-old suspect as he was approaching Binh Bridge, in Hamlet 5, Tan Duong Commune, Thuy Nguyen District. This is also Dung's birthplace.

According to Hai Phong Security, at that time Dung was traveling from Tam Hung commune, Thuy Nguyen district, towards Hai Phong city center in a four-seater taxi. Upon reaching the aforementioned area, he was surrounded and apprehended by the police.

At the Thuy Nguyen District Police Station, the man confessed to being the perpetrator of the horrific crime. According to his confession, on the evening of September 23rd, Dung went to Ms. Thanh's house intending to ask for money to buy drugs, but was refused because the homeowner was working the night shift. He then asked Ms. Hat if he could stay overnight.

Unable to sleep due to drug-induced hallucinations, Dung conceived the idea of ​​stealing property. Seeing 9-year-old Pham Dinh Hung awake, Dung rushed over and murdered him with a knife. Hearing the commotion, 8-year-old Pham Thu Ha woke up and was also strangled by Dung, who then dragged her body into the kitchen.

After committing the crime, Dung returned to his bed and continued sleeping. Near dawn, Mrs. Hat and little Vu Khanh Huyen woke up and went to the bathroom. They discovered Ha's body in the kitchen and were horrified. Looking around, Dung then used a stair railing to strike them multiple times on the head, causing both of them to die.

On July 8, 2016, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police arrested Nguyen Van Hong (Nguyet An commune, Ngoc Lac district) for murder. On July 7, Hong visited Le Thanh Hai's house. There, Hong exhibited signs of drug intoxication, continuously muttering incoherently before using a knife to attack Hai's two children, Le Minh Dang (7 years old) and Le Ngoc Chi (5 years old). Due to the severity of their injuries, both Dang and Chi died before reaching the hospital. After attacking the two children, Hong attempted suicide with the knife but failed. The incident was reported, and the Ngoc Lac District Police arrested Hong.
