Malaysia confirms Kim Jong-nam's identity based on DNA from his son.
On the afternoon of March 15, Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the country had used the DNA of Kim Jong-nam's son to identify the person who died at Kuala Lumpur airport on February 13.

Previously, on March 10, Malaysia confirmed that the person who died at Kuala Lumpur airport on February 13 was Kim Jong-nam. However, at that time, they refused to disclose the reasons for their conclusion.
Reuters quoted Hamidi as telling reporters: "I once again confirm that the deceased is Kim Jong-nam. This confirmation is based on samples taken from his son."
To date, North Korea has not claimed that the man who died at Kuala Lumpur airport was Kim Jong-nam. North Korea says the man's name was Kim Chol and he was carrying a diplomatic passport.
Malaysian police believe the man who died at Kuala Lumpur airport on February 13th died from VX nerve agent poisoning.
