From 8pm on January 23, many streets in the center of Vinh City were packed with people. All were bright with the national flag and filled with the sound of trumpets cheering. Young and old, men and women, people met each other and shook hands and congratulated each other. Mixed in were the shouts of Vietnam is the champion and the lyrics of the song "As if Uncle Ho was here on the day of great victory". Everyone shared the joy of Vietnam's spectacular victory. For many, this was an unprecedented victory celebration in Vinh City.
