Man City have been banned from signing young players for two years.
The youth academy of the Etihad Stadium club has been banned from signing new members for two years and fined $389,000.
The reason for the penalty is that Man City violated Premier League transfer regulations. The club was found to have approached the parents of two young players even though they had already signed contracts with other teams. Man City's penalty will be increased if they re-offend within three years after June 30, 2018.

Man City cannot sign any young players for the next two years. |
The above rule applies to all young players who have been registered with Premier League clubs within the last 18 months. In April, it was reported that the Premier League was considering two deals for young Manchester City players, including an 11-year-old from Everton and a 15-year-old from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Manchester City has not commented on the matter.
Man City's youth team has reached the FA Youth Cup final in the last three seasons and is highly regarded among Premier League teams.
Liverpool were also fined for a similar offense when they illegally approached a 12-year-old player from Stoke City's academy.
An investigation revealed that Liverpool representatives met with the boy and his family before they were given permission. The club also paid for the boy and several family members to attend the match at Anfield.
Liverpool offered to pay the young player's tuition fees, a move Stoke had made at the time. This violated the new Premier League regulations stipulating that all academy youths must receive equal treatment, with no exceptions.
