'Clumsy human rights award drama'

Motive and purpose of sabotage

At the end of November 2021, in the US, the organization “Vietnam Human Rights Network” (MLNQVN) issued a press release about the “Vietnam Human Rights Award 2021”. Among the 5 “award winners”, 3 were from the same family: Can Thi Theu and her 2 sons, Trinh Ba Phuong and Trinh Ba Tu. The remaining two were Nguyen Van Tuc and Dinh Thi Thu Thuy.

In fact, the so-called "Vietnam Human Rights Award" is just a cover, a thin cloak to conceal those who have activities against the Party, State and people of Vietnam.

For a long time, the so-called “Vietnam Human Rights Network” and a number of human rights organizations abroad have created many awards to “honor” those who they consider “actively contributing to the movement to protect democracy and human rights in the world”. Hearing the name, the purpose of these awards seems to be humanitarian, for the progress of society. But looking at it objectively and comprehensively, it is just a clumsy “drama” of a number of organizations and individuals who are determined to take advantage of democracy and human rights to sabotage countries that are not on the same orbit, including Vietnam.

Cannot give "awards" to criminals

According to the announcement of the so-called “Vietnam Human Rights Network”, in 2021, the people chosen by this organization to be “honored” include: Can Thi Theu, Trinh Ba Phuong, Trinh Ba Tu, Dinh Thi Thu Thuy and Nguyen Van Tuc. Let’s take a look at the “achievements” of these people to understand who they really are and what is the purpose of awarding the so-called “Vietnam Human Rights Award”?

As we know, Can Thi Theu and her son Trinh Ba Tu have long been two subjects with negative thoughts and political dissatisfaction. The investigation results of the authorities and the case file show that, between January 9 and 14, 2020, Can Thi Theu and Trinh Ba Tu used their personal Facebook accounts to live-stream 8 videos with content against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam... For the above violations, the People's Court of Hoa Binh province sentenced Can Thi Theu and Trinh Ba Tu each to 8 years in prison for the crime of "Making, storing, disseminating or propagating information, documents, and items against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" and 3 years of local probation after completing their prison sentences. Currently, Can Thi Theu and Trinh Ba Tu are serving their sentences.

As the son of Can Thi Theu, Trinh Ba Phuong was also heavily influenced by negative thoughts, dissatisfaction and continuously committed illegal acts. On June 23, 2020, the Hanoi Police Investigation Security Agency initiated a criminal prosecution to execute the temporary detention order to investigate Trinh Ba Phuong for the crime of "Making, storing, disseminating or propagating information, documents and items against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" under Article 117 of the 2015 Penal Code. The authorities have had initial investigation results on Trinh Ba Phuong's illegal acts. Accordingly, Trinh Ba Phuong's acts of drafting, posting and disseminating many video clips and articles with distorted, fabricated content, causing confusion among the people with the aim of opposing the Socialist Republic of Vietnam have been clarified. Trinh Ba Phuong is currently in temporary detention, awaiting trial by the Hanoi People's Court.

Similarly, Dinh Thi Thu Thuy is also serving a prison sentence. Dinh Thi Thu Thuy's illegal behavior has been clarified by the investigation security agency of Hau Giang Provincial Police. On January 20, 2021, Hau Giang Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance trial and sentenced Dinh Thi Thu Thuy to 7 years in prison for "Making, storing, disseminating or propagating information, documents, and items against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" according to Clause 1, Article 117 of the 2015 Penal Code.

The same is true for Nguyen Van Tuc. In September 2008, the subject was prosecuted by the authorities and temporarily detained for the crime of "Propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam". The investigation results clearly showed Nguyen Van Tuc's violations. After the first instance trial, the High People's Court of Appeal in Hanoi tried and sentenced Nguyen Van Tuc to 4 years in prison and 3 years of probation for the same crime. In September 2017, Nguyen Van Tuc was again prosecuted and temporarily detained by the Thai Binh Provincial Police for the crime of "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government". After the first instance verdict of the Thai Binh Provincial People's Court, Tuc appealed. In September 2018, the High People's Court in Hanoi dismissed the appeal, upheld the first instance verdict, and sentenced Nguyen Van Tuc to 13 years in prison and 5 years of probation for the crime of "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government".

Sober to see black and white

So it is clear that the human rights awards as mentioned are in fact just a tool, a means used by reactionary organizations to encourage, invigorate, support, nurture, and incite elements disguised as democracy, taking advantage of human rights to sabotage Vietnam. Most of those who claim to be "fighting for democracy and human rights" have been dealt with by the law, when standing before the jury, admitted to receiving funding from the above-mentioned foreign organizations to use for sabotage of Vietnam... and all bowed their heads and pleaded guilty... However, in reality, there are some people who are confused, delusional, and blinded by the praise and funding through the "award" trick of some reactionary organizations abroad.

No matter how sophisticated the form, such tricks cannot conceal the dark plots of disguised reactionary organizations. They plot to incite, encourage, and support activities against the Vietnamese State.

In the current political context, each of us needs to be clear-headed in recognizing the black and white of political and social criteria from the perspective of national and ethnic interests, including respect for the Constitution and the law. Never be vague or delusional with those nominal, unreal awards, because they are just a hoax in the "peaceful evolution" play against the Vietnamese revolution by hostile forces.
