Man Utd were held to a draw at Old Trafford by the second-to-last team in the Premier League.
Mourinho's team missed the opportunity to close the gap on the top four after only managing a 0-0 draw with Hull on the evening of February 1st.

This is the fourth time Man Utd have faced Hull this season, including the two-legged semi-final in the League Cup. In the first leg at Old Trafford, Man Utd won 2-0 but were unable to repeat the result from the Premier League match.
Manchester United easily dominated the game at home, but their strikers were thwarted by an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic. The Hull custodian denied Ibrahimovic's dangerous long-range shot and also won a one-on-one situation against Paul Pogba in the first half.
The second half continued to be a brilliant period for Jakupovic, as he made the most spectacular save against Juan Mata's close-range shot. In addition, Jakupovic continued to thwart Pogba's curling shots.
Hull nearly caused Man Utd to regret it at the end of the match, but Lazar Markovic's shot hit the post while Abel Hernandez couldn't beat De Gea.

Man Utd are currently sixth with 42 points, four points behind fourth-placed Liverpool. The draw against Hull was disappointing as Man Utd failed to close the gap in a round of top-four matches that ended in draws or losses.
In contrast to Man Utd, Hull can be pleased with a point at Old Trafford. They escaped the bottom of the table and climbed to 19th place with 17 points. The team that replaced Hull at the bottom is Sunderland, managed by former Man Utd manager David Moyes.
Hull have conceded 47 goals in the Premier League this season, the second-worst record after Swansea (52). However, they surprisingly kept their second clean sheet in 23 matches when they visited Old Trafford. This achievement was largely thanks to hero Jakupovic, the goalkeeper who usually plays a reserve role at Hull.

Manchester United are showing signs of a dip in form after their winning streak was halted. The Old Trafford side maintained their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 14 matches but have drawn their last three. Among the top six teams, Man Utd have drawn nine matches, and this is the main reason for their struggles at the bottom of the table.
Mourinho's team missed a series of opportunities to close the gap with the top four, and the match against Hull can be seen as the peak of their disappointment. In a round where Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham all drew, and Arsenal lost, sharing points with bottom-of-the-table Hull was tantamount to shooting themselves in the foot.
Manchester United could only blame their wasted opportunities. Ibrahimovic, Pogba, and Mata all had clear chances to score but missed them. While Marcus Rashford played the full 90 minutes for Man Utd for the first time since November, the young talent lost possession 21 times, more than any other player on the pitch. Rooney was brought on in the second half, but his contribution was not enough to make a difference.
