Asparagus provides a high income in Nghe An.

To date, after more than a year of planting and caring for the crop, farmers are harvesting the main crop; on average, they can harvest 40-55 kg/ha per day, selling it at the farm for 50,000 VND/kg.

Currently, Nguyen Thi Tam's family sells an average of 45-55 kg of green asparagus to the market each day. Ms. Tam shared: "Initially, this crop seems to be much more effective than other crops."

These days, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Huyen's family is also busy harvesting green asparagus to ship to markets in Hanoi, Vinh, and other regional customers. "To make green asparagus highly profitable, in addition to investing over 300 million VND to buy seeds, fertilizers, and install a drip irrigation system..."

In fact, after more than a year of planting and caring for them, the green asparagus plants in Tay Hieu have grown and developed well, suitable to the soil and weather conditions of the region. The green asparagus has been harvested since the beginning of December 2020 and will continue until around October 2021.

Thus, while previously the entire 4 hectares planted with chili peppers, oranges, and jackfruit only yielded seasonal harvests, now green asparagus provides a harvest almost year-round. Furthermore, growers don't need to replant because the roots can last up to 9 years with proper care. With the current stable prices, asparagus growers in Tay Hieu commune are earning millions of dong every day.

Currently, green asparagus is considered the "king of vegetables" due to its high nutritional value and health benefits. Therefore, many consumers have chosen this vegetable to prepare meals for their families.
