The founder of Facebook is famous for dropping out of Harvard to build the world's largest social network, influencing millions of people.

But there are many other interesting things about this young tech mogul and the world's largest social network, according to CNET.

Mark Zuckerberg receives a salary of $1.

Mark Zuckerberg is following in Steve Jobs' footsteps by accepting a salary of only $1. In return, he owns nearly $422 million worth of Facebook stock.

Those shares, along with other assets, are worth a total of nearly $47.5 billion, according to Forbes.

Zuckerberg owns a significant amount of Facebook stock, but is not allowed to purchase any additional preferred stock, to ensure that Mark's direction aligns with the needs of investors.

Meanwhile, COO Sheryl Sandberg has a base salary of $700,000, CFO David Wehner $650,000, and CPO Chris Cox receives $625,000, the same as CTO Mike Schroepfer. They all have bonuses and stock options.

It costs $5 million a year to protect Mark.

Being the fourth richest person in America comes with many risks, so it's understandable that Mark has a special security program to identify and protect the CEO from potential threats.

According to Facebook, Mark received numerous direct threats. Therefore, Melon Park, a California-based security company, implemented security measures at Mark's residence and hired private bodyguards for him.

Mark also has a private jet included in this program. The total cost of the security program is approximately $5 million per year.

This year, Facebook also offered this feature to Sandberg, at a cost of nearly $1.3 million.

Some investors want fair elections.

Facebook is referred to as a "controlled company," implying that Mark has absolute power. This power stems not only from the enormous number of shares, but also because each share is classified as "Class B," worth 10 votes.

Facebook is preparing to launch "Class C" shares, which have no voting value. Some investors disagree with this arrangement and are trying to convene a shareholders' meeting to equalize all types of shares.

"If investors don't speak up, they can't control how the company is managed," one investor shared.

Mark disagreed with this. In a meeting with analysts, he argued that his ownership of the company had helped prevent attempts to sell it off cheaply in the early days.

"Facebook was built on bold decisions, and looking to the future, I see many more bold decisions ahead," Mark said.

Proposals like these are often not approved within large technology companies.

Oculus VR sales figures will not be announced anytime soon.

Mark believes that Oculus VR glasses will be the next step in the computing industry, but they won't be available anytime soon.

In an interview, Wehner stated that it was "too early" to discuss sales figures for the Rift device, which went on sale on March 28th. It is unclear when Facebook will release these numbers.

Wehner also suggested that Oculus hasn't had a major impact on sales this year. And while Mark constantly talks about the enormous role VR plays, it's clear that this device line is off to a rather slow start.

"We don't expect VR to be an instant success, and I really want to emphasize that."

Mark considers improving the world his responsibility.

In December, Mark welcomed his first child, Max, and also announced a $45 billion humanitarian initiative called the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. At the time, Mark said the organization would focus on “improving the world for the next generation.”

"We have fundamental ethical responsibilities in making these investments," Mark added.

In his letter to investors, Mark further expressed his desire to “help cure all diseases before the end of this century,” along with “upgrading the education system to make it suitable for every student, and protecting the environment from global warming.”
