What is foot massage?
This method involves stimulating various acupressure points on the feet to affect glands and organs in the body. Massaging these points can help:
- Relax
- Pain relief
- Improves blood circulation
- It has a positive effect on the body's organs (especially the kidneys).
To achieve these effects, you first need to know that the acupressure points on the feet affect different organs:
- The toes affect the head.
- The lines between the toes and the top of the foot affect the shoulder/neck.
- The top of the foot affects the chest.
- Heels and ankles affect the reproductive organs.
Foot massages can help relieve insomnia.

You should massage your feet following these steps for about 15 minutes before going to bed:
1. Relax each foot by gently massaging it up and down. You can also lightly tap your feet. Finish this initial relaxation phase by using your thumb and index finger to gently squeeze the solar plexus on the foot (the midpoint of the arch of the foot) between your thumb and index finger for 5-10 seconds.
2. Starting at the sole of your foot, move your thumb up to the tip of each toe, one toe at a time. Imagine your hand crawling up your foot like a caterpillar. When your hand reaches the tip of your toes, press on the reflex points on the tip, side, and between each toe with the tip and edges of your thumb and index finger. For better results, if you have a particular area you want to focus on, press on the corresponding reflex point.
3. Repeat the relaxation techniques from step 1 one more time, ending with pressing on the plexus acupoint.
4. Finish the full massage by gently gliding your fingers up and down the foot so that they barely touch the skin. This technique helps soothe the nerves and allows you to enter a deep, calm state, a state of tranquility, from which you can drift off to peaceful sleep.
When you finish this technique, you will enter a meditative state. You can say to yourself: “I am ready for a deep, restorative sleep that will leave me feeling refreshed and alert when I wake up in the morning.”
