(Baonghean.vn) - Speaking very quickly, heavily, and primarily using a local dialect, people from other regions can only stare in amazement. That's the accent of the people in the Con Market area (Thanh Chuong).

The Con Market accent is renowned as one of the distinctive accents of Nghe An province because it incorporates many local dialects and dialects. Even the locals themselves cannot explain why this region has "produced" such a unique accent.

People in Con Market area discuss plans to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival for children.

It was harvest season, and along the rice fields stretching across National Highway 46, farmers were busily harvesting their crops. “Oh, you just finished carrying rice?” (Va, just finished carrying rice?), “How many quintals of rice did your family harvest this year?” (Ló nhà o năm ni được mái tạ?), “rọng nhà o reènh hẻn” (Your field is so beautiful)... These phrases echoed, leaving us speechless, going from one surprise to another.

The people of Con Market use their local dialect for daily communication.

Our local friend explained that the authentic Con Market accent is only found in three communes: Thanh Duong, Thanh Luong, and Thanh Yen. The dialects and local sounds of these three communes are basically the same, but the intonation and intonation differ slightly. For example, Thanh Luong uses the word "gánh ló," while Thanh Yen uses "ghếnh ló" (carrying rice). Some characteristic accents of the Con Market dialect include: "răng rứa – năng nứa" (why is that?), "hẳn – hẻn" (used to indicate something very nice or good), "gạch – ghịch" (brick), "dầu hỏa – dù hỏa," "bắp ngô – bắp ngâu," "bò điên – bò đen" (a black cow), and "mái – mấy" (asking for how much).

Children in the Con Market area speak the local dialect from a young age.

Besides the local dialect, the language of Con Market also uses many regional dialects. For example, a "bucket" is called a "dai"; a "yard" is called a "cuoi"; "like" is called a "sem"; a "bowl" is called a "doi"; "salt" is called a "moi"... Therefore, people from other regions who listen to the people of Con Market speak often don't understand the meaning even if they hear the pronunciation.

Nguyen Phuong Thao (26 years old), who has been away from her hometown for over 7 years and is currently working in Japan, still retains the distinctive accent of Con Market.

The heavy pronunciation, fast intonation, and frequent use of dialects create a strange, difficult-to-understand accent, causing many first-time listeners to mistake it for a foreign language and leave a strong impression. Many humorous situations are also passed down, such as the story of buying chickens: A person from another region came to Con Market to sell chickens, and the locals asked, "O ơi, con ga ni mái" (Excuse me, ma'am, how much is this chicken?), to which the seller insisted, "This is a rooster."

People in Con Market use their distinctive regional dialect when speaking to each other, but they still try to use standard Vietnamese when speaking to people from other villages. Even so, their unique accent remains unmistakable and has been passed down as a kind of cultural "specialty."

Grandparents say, parents say, and the children here all speak the Cho Con dialect, passed down from generation to generation. Even many people who have been away from home for many years, with mixed accents, still speak the distinct Cho Con dialect when they return. On social media, many forums about the Cho Con dialect have been created, mainly by people who have left their hometown, where they talk and discuss the unique accent of their homeland.

"Oh dear! How far along are you in cooking the sticky rice cakes for the children on the full moon festival?" (Auntie, how far along are you in cooking the sticky rice cakes for the children on the full moon festival?)

Nghe An, being one of the largest provinces in the country in terms of area, is also famous for its many unique local accents. Among them, the Cho Con accent is one of the most "famous," leaving a lasting impression on many visitors and evoking fond memories for those who have left the area.
