When Secret Service agents fly with people who need protection, they use budget funds to cover the costs, and they have to pay Donald Trump in exchange for seats on his private plane.
During his presidential campaign, the New York tycoon allegedly demanded $6 million from the federal government to grant Secret Service agents permission to board his plane. The $6 million figure was revealed because all financial details related to a presidential candidate's campaign are submitted to the Federal Election Commission, according to NBC News.
When he becomes president, Donald Trump will fly on Air Force One. At that time, the Boeing 757 that the New York tycoon owns through his private company will be used by his relatives or anyone with the authority to do so. If Trump wants the Secret Service to protect these people, that request can certainly be granted.
However, once the campaign ended, the plane was simply owned by the Trump family company. Therefore, it is difficult to predict how much Trump might receive from the federal government if he applied this method.
Donald Trump bought the Boeing 757 in 2011 and refurbished it. He often called it the T-Bird, but after winning the US presidential election, his private jet may also be known as "Trump Force One".
The aircraft is reportedly worth over $100 million and boasts powerful Rolls-Royce engines. The interior, even the seatbelts and sinks, are gold-plated. Mr. Trump's bedroom features decorative wood paneling and silk pillows embroidered with his family crest. The plane also has a "miniature movie theater" including a 57-inch screen and a state-of-the-art sound system.
