According to information, the victim in the incident was Ms. Trieu Thi Huyen (born 1975), temporarily residing in Sub-region 296, Cu M'lan commune, Ea Sup district.
At the hospital, Ms. Huyen is being actively treated for burns on her chest, abdomen, thighs and face, covering more than 40% of her body, level III. The suspect who doused Ms. Huyen with gasoline and set her on fire is Mr. Ly Van Duong (born in 1981), residing in Sub-area 296, Cu M'lan Commune, Ms. Huyen's husband.
Talking to reporters, Ms. Huyen said that on the morning of August 1, she and Mr. Ly Van Duong prepared tools to go to the fields. Before that, Mr. Duong bought 5 liters of gasoline and divided it into 2 cans (each can is 2.5 liters), then mixed oil inside the can to run the lawn mower.
While the two were preparing to go to the fields, a neighbor came to invite them out for a drink, so the couple skipped work and went out for a drink. “There were 6 people at the party that day, but we drank 1.5 liters of wine and 2 cases of beer, so everyone was a little tipsy. After drinking, Duong and I went home. When we both went to the porch, I sat down on the ground to rest, Duong cursed me for no reason. When I said a few words back, he got mad and cursed me continuously,” said Ms. Huyen.

According to Ms. Huyen, while the two were arguing, Mr. Duong suddenly rushed in, grabbed her hair, and punched her in the face many times, causing her to become dizzy.
“Then he suddenly took out a can of gasoline, poured it on me, and lit a fire. The fire suddenly broke out, leaving me unable to react. Luckily, when he discovered the incident, Mr. Duong’s mother used a wet blanket to put out the fire and took me to the emergency room, so I was able to escape death,” Ms. Huyen recalled.
It is known that Mr. Duong and Ms. Huyen have been living together as husband and wife for 6 years but have not registered their marriage. They have a 5-year-old daughter together. According to Ms. Huyen, this is not the first time her husband has beaten her to the point of death.
The case is currently being investigated and clarified by Ea Sup District Police.
