The ice-cutting machine invented by a local craftsman has been recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

(Baonghean.vn) - Recognizing the increasing demand for ice, especially during the summer months, and the difficulties people faced with large ice cube molds, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thuong, from Tan Phu Hamlet, Hoa Hieu Ward, Thai Hoa Town (Nghe An), invented an ice cube cutting machine. This unique invention has been certified by the Intellectual Property Office - Ministry of Science and Technology.

As a refrigeration repairman who also produced large blocks of ice for sale, Mr. Thuong noticed the inconvenience of large blocks of ice. He pondered how to create an ice-cutting machine that would provide the market with small, compact, and easily portable ice cubes to suit user needs.

Mr. Thuong shared: "I often saw people struggling to break large blocks of stone into smaller pieces using tools, which was very difficult. Some used machines, but the stones were crushed, wasted, and not aesthetically pleasing. So I decided to research and create a stone-cutting machine that would be productive, convenient, and hygienic."

He set about sourcing materials and meticulously sketching design blueprints. However, every beginning is difficult, and the first machine he created was unsuccessful after many months. But with determination, and having learned from his first failure, he started working on a second one, and he succeeded.

Ms. Vo Thi Binh from Tan Hoa Hamlet, Nghia Dan town, is one of the customers who is very satisfied with the usefulness of the ice cutting machine.

Ms. Vo Thi Binh, from Tan Hoa Ward, Nghia Dan Town, who bought the machine manufactured by Mr. Thuong, said: "Since having this ice cutting machine, ice vendors like me have saved a lot of effort and found it much more convenient. The number of customers coming to buy ice has increased significantly."

Mr. Thuong's ice cutting machine has many parts: a machine frame, a material hopper, guide rails, stabilizing springs, a bar cutting unit, a cube cutting unit, a tray for collecting finished ice cubes, etc. Each complete ice cutting machine can cut 15 tons of ice per day.

Mr. Thuong's ice cutting machine has many outstanding features, including low power consumption and a longer melting time for the cut ice cubes.

Stone products after cutting

Since December 2015, his invention has been recognized by the Intellectual Property Office. He has planned for mass production, but due to a lack of capital, space, and skilled labor, the number of machines produced so far is still small, even though he receives orders every day.

Each of these machines costs 10 million VND, mainly sold to customers within the province, with a few people buying them to use in Laos. With a capacity of 3 cutting blades, the machine can cut stone blocks measuring 40mm x 40mm. It can also be fitted with 4 saw blades to cut smaller stones.

Mr. Thuong and his machine have been granted a certificate by the Intellectual Property Office - Ministry of Science and Technology.
