Mazda 3 1.5L version has been noted by users with the phenomenon of engine error light coming on since the end of July. Accordingly, the light is constantly on during use, causing insecurity and inconvenience to users. The cause, according to distributor Thaco Truong Hai, is due to the fuel injector being clogged, too much carbon formed during the fuel combustion process mixed with dirty impurities, leading to blockage of the fuel injector. The solution is to use a solution to clean the injector.
However, over the past several months, the problem of faulty vehicles has not been completely resolved. On November 11, the Competition Management Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a document requesting Truong Hai Company to receive and resolve consumer complaints and report on the implementation results. The response document dated November 20 of Truong Hai Company signed by Deputy General Director Bui Kim Kha reaffirmed that the cause was due to clogged injectors, leading to poor air-fuel mixture and the error light coming on.
Truong Hai also informed that out of 4,000 Mazda 3 1.5L models sold, they only recorded 170 vehicles with the engine error light phenomenon. Also according to this company's records, the cases of customers bringing their cars to Mazda Vietnam's warranty service station, after being treated with the Deposit Cleaner method - cleaning the injectors with cleaning solution, have so far not had the engine error light phenomenon recur.
However, according to the list compiled by the Mazda 3 Club Vietnam - a forum that gathers users and enthusiasts of this car line in Vietnam, the number of cases with errors has reached over 200 vehicles. Of these, 23 cases have encountered this error at least 2 times or more. This reality is completely contrary to Truong Hai's statement that the vehicles after having their injectors cleaned no longer have the problem again.
Talking to Zing.vn, Mr. Nguyen Nam Giang in Bac Ninh said that he bought a Mazda 3 1.5L sedan in July 2015. After using it for about 5,000 km, the car showed an engine error light. He took the car to Mazda Nguyen Trai dealer, and the technician fixed the problem for him by cleaning the injectors and pouring in a cleaning solution for the fuel tank and injectors. After traveling about 12,000 km, the car showed an engine error light again and had to clean the injectors on December 5.
"This situation causes a lot of frustration, because I bought a brand new car but it reported an engine error. Since the warning light appeared, the i-Stop feature has also disappeared and the car consumes more gas," Giang shared.
Mr. Hoang Cong Thanh in Ho Chi Minh City is the owner of a Mazda 3 that reported an engine error 4 times. The first time, the error light came on when the car had only run nearly 4,000 km. After that, the error automatically disappeared. At the maintenance time of 5,000 km, 10,000 km, the error appeared again. Currently, when the car has run 14,000 km, the light continues to come on for the 4th time.
Another user, Mr. Le Duy Khanh in Thanh Hoa, also had a Mazda 3 that reported an engine error 5 times. The first time the light came on when the car had only run more than 2,000 km. The next times appeared at the maintenance of 5,000 km, 10,000 km, 15,000 km and most recently when the car had run more than 20,000 km.
"At first I felt unhappy, but the car had this problem so many times that I gradually got used to it and didn't want to mention this warning light error anymore. However, the engine fuel injector is not an external part like lights or mirrors, so constantly removing and washing it makes users like me feel really insecure and annoyed," said Mr. Khanh.
In response to the recent continuous complaints from consumers, the Competition Management Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade continued to issue a document on December 2, requesting Thaco representatives to have a direct meeting with the Department and consumer representatives. The Department's document clearly stated that after the vehicle's injector was cleaned, the engine error warning light continued to appear. This shows that Thaco has not complied with the provisions of Article 22 of the Law on Consumer Protection.
A meeting between Thaco Truong Hai, the Competition Management Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade and representatives of customers with affected vehicles will take place in Hanoi on December 8 to find a common solution. In case the fault is determined by the manufacturer, Thaco Truong Hai may have to carry out a recall in accordance with the law.
