The Mazda CX-8 is expected to officially launch in the Japanese market this year, and the first exterior image of the car has just been released.
Accordingly, it can be clearly seen that this new 7-seat SUV model of Mazda has a very similar design to the CX-5, with the entire front end of the car identical. However, the CX-8 seems taller, and the rear end is designed similar to the CX-9, the wheels are similar, but not identical.
The Japanese automaker has also released a photo of the car's interior, showing a seemingly high-end style. Unlike its "big brother" CX-9, the CX-8 has 3 rows of seats but is designed to seat 6, with a center console located between the second row of seats that integrates an armrest and cup holders. However, the option will be a 7-seat design.

At 4,900mm long, 1,840mm wide and 1,730mm high, the Mazda CX-8 is actually closer to the CX-9 in size, than the CX-5.
Compared to the CX-9, it's just 175mm shorter, 125mm narrower and 17mm lower; both share the same 2,930mm wheelbase.
Meanwhile, compared to the CX-5, the CX-8 is 350 mm longer and 40 mm taller, with a wheelbase that is 230 mm longer.
The engine will be a 2.2L SkyActiv-D turbodiesel combined with a 6-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission. Engine specifications have not been revealed, but they certainly cannot be inferior to the 170 horsepower and 420 Nm of the same engine currently used in the CX-5.
Although Mazda has confirmed that this 7-seat SUV model is made exclusively for the Japanese market, it still attracts a lot of attention from consumers in other countries, with the hope that the Japanese car company will change its mind./.
