MC Quyền Linh speaks out about the "being arrested" video fabricated by AI.
MC Quyền Linh asserted that the information about his arrest was completely false, and also warned about the increasing misuse of deepfake technology for fraud.
MC Quyền Linh has officially denied information circulating online that he was arrested, based on fake videos created using deepfake technology. The artist affirmed that this is fake news and warned viewers about increasingly sophisticated scams using artificial intelligence (AI).
The truth behind the "emergency arrest" video
From the afternoon of December 7th, many social media sites posted videos with shocking titles such as "Police urgently arrest MC Quyen Linh," showing a person resembling the male artist being apprehended by law enforcement. However, these videos were quickly identified as products of deepfake technology, a technique using AI to create highly realistic fake content.

During a live broadcast on the evening of December 8th, MC Quyền Linh stated that he had received many questions from friends and fans. He affirmed that the information about his arrest was completely unfounded. In reality, he was on a business trip in Hanoi and working with the Vietnam Film Association. The male MC emphasized that many artists have recently become victims of deepfakes, with malicious individuals exploiting their images and voices to create false content.
The problem of AI abuse targeting celebrities.
The case of MC Quyền Linh is not unique. Recently, many Vietnamese artists have faced similar scams, including:
- Nhat Kim Anh:Rumors spread that he had "fled from the investigation agency" and "been prosecuted for fraud".
- Ho Ngoc Ha, Ngo Thanh Van, My Tam:Their images and voices, created using AI, are being used to advertise low-quality products and fraudulent projects.
- Dai Nghia, Quoc Truong, Ly Hai:People are being targeted by fake voices and lip movements in videos soliciting investments in non-existent financial or real estate projects.
The case of MC Quyền Linh and many other artists serves as a warning about the dangers of deepfake technology when exploited by malicious actors. Social media users are advised to verify information from official sources and be vigilant against content with unusual characteristics to avoid becoming victims of scams.
