Mother saves 3-year-old child who fell into a well, both died

Seeing her child fall into the well, the mother went to save them but both drowned. Authorities recovered the bodies of the victims and handed them over to their relatives for burial.

According to initial information, at 10:15 a.m. on December 18, Mr. Do Quang Du (residing in Ea Tul commune, Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak) discovered Ms. Le Thi Thu Hien (24 years old, residing in Ea Tu commune, Cu Mgar district, Dak Lak) and her child Tran Truc Binh (3 years old) drowned in Mr. Du's family's well.

This person then reported the incident to the authorities. At 2 p.m. the same day, the victims' bodies were pulled from the well and handed over to their families for burial.

According to the authorities, Ms. Hien called Mr. Du “uncle.” That morning, the woman and her young child went to her uncle’s house to help look after the fields. When she saw her 3-year-old son fall into the well, the mother went down to save him but drowned and died.

Mr. Dang Van Hoan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Tu commune, said that Ms. Hien's family was near-poor in the period 2015 - 2020. Due to difficult family circumstances, the couple had to work for hire to earn money to raise their children./.
