Coach Park Hang Seo's mother was overcome with emotion, missing her son, when the head coach of the Vietnam U23 team called to share the news of the victory.

The Kookje (International News) newspaper met with the mother of coach Park Hang Seo, Mrs. Park Soon Jung, 97 years old, who lives in her hometown of Sancheong (Gyeongsang Nam Province, South Korea). Mrs. Park has five children (four sons and one daughter), with the head coach of the Vietnam U23 team being the youngest.

One of Coach Park Hang Seo's three older brothers, Mr. Park Sam Seo (66 years old), regularly visits their mother at the nursing home. Mrs. Park suffers from dementia and has difficulty walking due to her frail health.

Mr. Park Sam Seo said that a few days ago his younger brother called to check on their mother and share the news of the victory. Mrs. Park Soon Jung choked up with tears upon hearing her youngest son's voice.

"I want to see my son. Please take me to Vietnam," said Park Soon Jung.

According to Mr. Park Sam Seo, the last time Coach Park Hang Seo visited his mother was before leaving South Korea for Vietnam to take up his job. Before parting ways, his mother said that she really wanted to see her youngest son again while she was still mentally alert.

Currently, Coach Park Hang Seo is the most talked-about figure in South Korean football. He recently led the Vietnam U23 team to a fairytale-like achievement that shocked Asia by reaching the final of the continental tournament. Coach Park's feat is even more remarkable considering his home country's team, South Korea U23, was eliminated in the semi-finals.

A few days ago, after the victory against the U23 Iraq team in the quarter-finals, Coach Park also broke down in tears when mentioning his mother.

"We have achieved something even more special than what we have done before. I miss my family very much, I miss my mother, who is 97 years old and living alone in my hometown, I miss my wife and son. I want to share this happiness with them," Coach Park confided in the press conference.
