“Brazilian Messi” was brutally murdered, body thrown into the bushes
Brazilian football has just experienced a shock after the body of player Daniel Correa Freitas (playing for Sao Paulo FC) was found in the bushes in Sao Jose dos Pinhais, Paranate state with his head almost severed and his genitals removed.
According to local media, a passerby discovered the badly injured youngster's body. Sao Paulo FC - which plays in Brazil's first division - announced the sad news on its Twitter account: "Sao Paulo Football Club deeply regrets the death of midfielder Daniel Correa Freitas. The club would like to express its sincere condolences to his family."

Although the official cause of death has not been confirmed, local newspaper Band B reported that Correa had been “tortured”. Band B quoted a police officer as saying: “Judging by the condition of the body, the victim was brutally tortured. There were two deep cuts on the victim’s neck, his head was almost severed, and his genitals were severed. This road (where Correa’s body was found on October 27) is a bit deserted and is known for the number of corpses found. From the evidence at the scene, it can be inferred that the young star was killed on the road and then his body was dragged about 30 meters before being thrown into the bushes.”
