Messi, Neymar compete for Goal of the Year award

FIFA announced the list of 10 candidates for the Best Goal of 2016 award, including two masterpieces by Messi and Neymar.

Messi's nominated goal came in the Argentina-USA match at Copa America, while Neymar's was a lob in the Barca-Villarreal match at La Liga.

The list of 10 candidates announced by FIFA on the evening of November 21 also included many other masterpieces such as Saul Niguez's solo performance, Robson-Kanu's backheel, or Moh Faiz Subri's (Malaysia) curling free kick that legend Roberto Carlos admired.

FIFA will select 10 candidates between October 2015 and October 2016. The voting will take place on the FIFA website. Anyone can access and vote.

The award ceremony will take place at the FIFA Football Gala on January 9, 2017. This is also the ceremony to award the FIFA Best Player, a new title separated from the Ballon d'Or.

Neymar (Brazil) - November 8, 2015, Barcelona - Villarreal match in La Liga.

Saul Niguez (Spain) - April 27, 2016, Atletico Madrid - Bayern Munich match in Champions League.

Hal Robson-Kanu (Wales) - 01/07/2016, Wales - Belgium match at EURO 2016.

Daniuska Rodriguez (Venezuela) - March 14, 2016, Venezuela - Colombia match at the South American U17 Women's Football Championship.
