In contrast to Dimitrov's struggles, seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas had a smooth start. The Greek player overcame his British opponent Arthur Fery with scores of 6-1 and 7-6(4). Tsitsipas completely dominated the first set, winning two breaks to finish the set in just 33 minutes.
In the second set, Arthur Fery fought back and successfully saved three set points in the tenth game, forcing the match into a tie-break. However, Tsitsipas's extensive experience helped him control the situation and win the tie-break 7-4, officially securing his place in the next round.
