Northern Vietnam is experiencing another intense cold spell.
The cold front in early November will push temperatures down to 18-20 degrees Celsius, and in mountainous areas, it could drop below 13 degrees.
A cold air mass that swept into the northern mountainous region on the evening of October 29th has spread throughout Northern Vietnam and some areas of North Central Vietnam. The northeast monsoon brought light rain, causing temperatures to drop across the board. In Mau Son (Lang Son), the lowest temperature was around 11 degrees Celsius, Dong Van (Ha Giang) 14 degrees, and Sa Pa (Lao Cai) 15 degrees Celsius...
In Hanoi, the lowest temperature recorded at Lang station was 23 degrees Celsius, while at Ha Dong and Ba Vi stations it was generally 21-22 degrees Celsius.

According to the Central Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting Center, the cold air mass will continue to spread to Northern and North Central Vietnam tonight and tomorrow. The lowest temperatures will be around 20-22 degrees Celsius, 16-18 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas, and below 15 degrees Celsius in some high-altitude regions.
The meteorological agency warns that from October 30th, floods will occur on rivers from Nghe An to Ninh Thuan, with water levels rising by 3 to 8 meters in the upper reaches and 1 to 4 meters in the lower reaches. There is a very high risk of major floods, flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in mountainous areas, and localized flooding in low-lying areas.
Following this period, the North will experience another strong monsoon, with temperatures dropping by a further 2-3 degrees Celsius.From November 1st to 4th, the central coastal region will continue to experience heavy rain, with very heavy rain in Ha Tinh and Phu Yen provinces. Local authorities need to ensure the safety of reservoirs due to flooding.
