Northern Vietnam continues to be shrouded in cold rain.
Today (December 5th), rain will continue in the eastern provinces of Northern Vietnam; the northern mountainous areas will experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms in some places. The weather will be intensely cold, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold.

According to the Central Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting Center, due to the influence of a strengthening cold front combined with a westerly trough at high altitude, rain has fallen in the northern provinces, with moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms in the western part of the North and the northern mountainous areas. The weather is cold, with very cold temperatures in the mountainous regions.
Currently, the cold air mass is stable in intensity; the upper-level westerly trough is moving rapidly eastward.
Today (December 5th), rain will continue in the eastern provinces of Northern Vietnam; the northern mountainous areas will experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms. In the Gulf of Tonkin, strong northeasterly winds of force 5, sometimes force 6, gusting to force 7, will cause rough seas.
In addition, a cold front is currently moving southward from the north. Around late afternoon and tonight (December 5th), this cold front will affect the northern provinces, then the northern central provinces and some areas in the central central provinces. Northeast winds inland will strengthen to level 3, and level 4 in coastal areas.
From tonight, winds in the Gulf of Tonkin and the northern South China Sea (including the Paracel Islands) will strengthen to level 6, gusting to levels 7-8. The sea will be rough. Wave height will be 2-3 meters. Disaster risk level: level 1.
