Because it was completely surrounded by cold air, last night and this morning will be the peak of this cold spell. Even in the capital Hanoi, going out on the street still feels cold because the temperature has dropped to only 13-14 degrees Celsius, plus high humidity.
The highest temperature of the day is forecast to be only 15-17 degrees Celsius. Compared to 2 days ago, the temperature has dropped by 6-8 degrees Celsius.
In mountainous provinces such as Mau Son (Lang Son), Sa Pa (Lao Cai), it is extremely cold, the temperature this morning dropped to 6 degrees Celsius, in mountainous provinces it is commonly 9-12 degrees Celsius.
In the Northwest region, the weather is 1-2 degrees warmer, with the highest daytime temperature at 15-18 degrees Celsius. In the Northwest provinces such as Dien Bien, Son La, and Lao Cai, the temperature remains at 18-21 degrees.
From tomorrow, the temperature in the North will gradually increase but it will be difficult to reach the warm level of 25-26 degrees as recently. Around January 16, there will be an additional weak cold air wave.
