Vietnam Book Day is an annual event organized to honor the value of books and develop the reading movement, building a reading culture in social life; aiming towards a learning society. Vietnam Book Day also has the significance of promoting activities related to collecting, researching, creating, publishing, archiving, and promoting books.

At the ceremony, delegates and a large number of students from universities and colleges in the area listened to a presentation on the history of Vietnam Book Day and some books written on the themes: "The Heroic Spirit of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa," and "Songs Sent to the Sea," aiming to further cultivate love and pride for the sacred islands of the homeland in the younger generation.

As part of the program, publishers, book companies, and school equipment suppliers organized 11 booths to display, introduce, and sell books. Vietnam Book Day 2016 in Nghe An will take place from April 19-21.
