According to RIA Novosti on January 15, the Financial Times reported that US President-elect Donald Trump's statements regarding Greenland, Panama, and Canada give Russia and China a strategic advantage.

"The reality is that Trump's threats against Greenland, Panama, and Canada are an absolute gift to Russia and China," wrote the Financial Times.

According to this publication, if President-elect Trump can declare a strategic need to “control” the Panama Canal and Greenland, then Russia and China also have the right to protect their national interests in the issues of Ukraine and Taiwan.

The Financial Times believes that: “Even if Trump never acts on his warnings, he has already inflicted enormous damage on America’s global standing and its alliance system. And this is happening even before he has taken office.”

In early January, President-elect Donald Trump said that Greenland should become part of the United States to counter the influence of China and Russia. The idea of ​​acquiring an autonomous island in Denmark was first voiced by him in 2019 during his first presidential term. However, both then and now, the Greenland and Danish governments have rejected the proposal, calling it "frivolous."

In addition, Trump is actively promoting initiatives to include Canada as the 51st state of the United States and to restore U.S. control over the Panama Canal.
