List of exam subjects and exam format
This is the first exam to implement the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training on adding a third subject to the 10th grade high school entrance exam. The selection of the third subject is decided by the Department of Education and Training of provinces and cities.
Thus, the entrance exam for grade 10 high school (mass) in the 2025-2026 school year in Hanoi will have 3 subjects:Math, LiteratureandForeign language(English, French, German, Japanese, Korean)
Regarding the exam format, according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training:
Literature:The test duration is 120 minutes, including reading comprehension worth 4 points and writing worth 6 points;
Math:The exam lasts 120 minutes, combining multiple choice and essay questions. The essay part consists of 9 questions, accounting for 30% of the total score. The multiple choice part has 12 questions, accounting for 70% of the total score;
Foreign Language:Exam time is 60 minutes, multiple choice format, knowledge is mainly in the 9th grade program.
The Department requires schools to organize review sessions for students according to the format structure and sample questions announced in August 2024 so that students can familiarize themselves with and prepare for the exam.
Hanoi's 2025 10th grade entrance exam will take place over two days, June 7-8. On the morning of the first day, candidates will take the Literature exam for 120 minutes, and in the afternoon, they will take the Foreign Language exam for 60 minutes. On the morning of June 8, candidates will only take the Math exam, with a time limit of 120 minutes. The admission score is the total score of the three subjects on a 10-point scale, without any coefficient, plus priority and incentive points (if any).
