When English becomes an optional subject

The 2024-2025 school year is the first year that the entire education sector organizes the Graduation Exam according to the 2018 General Education Program. Accordingly, in addition to the two compulsory subjects of Math and Literature, students only have to take 2 subjects (instead of 4 subjects as before) and English has changed from a compulsory subject to an elective subject.
Concerns when English is an elective subject in the 2025 high school graduation exam

Once a compulsory subject, English will only be an optional subject in the High School Graduation Exam from 2025. The number of candidates registering for the English exam has also decreased significantly, and there are even classes and schools with no candidates registering for this subject.
