Is a ship dumping waste into the Lam River?
A video posted on social media by a local resident shows an excavator on a steel ship scooping up trash from the ship and dumping it into the middle of the Lam River.
According to a video posted by residents on social media, on the afternoon of October 4, 2025, on the Lam River section flowing through Truong Vinh ward (Nghe An province), the ship with registration number NA-2662 was seen scooping up waste and dumping it directly into the river.

According to a video clip over a minute long recorded by a local resident, an excavator on the ship was continuously scooping up large buckets of garbage and dumping them into the water. Despite residents on the shore shouting and demanding it stop, the excavator operator continued the activity. Some of the buckets clearly showed household waste and discarded materials floating in the murky, rising water, a result of heavy rain and flooding.

A resident of Truong Vinh ward said: "We saw the boat moving slowly in the middle of the river, then suddenly the excavator on the boat started scooping up trash and dropping it overboard."

Many people have suggested that local authorities and relevant agencies should quickly verify this incident.
According to our investigation, this vessel belongs to Nhat Thanh Trading Company Limited and has been tasked with handling waste at the Ben Thuy oil depot's dock area in recent days. Following the storm, a large amount of waste has washed ashore, causing blockages and affecting ship access and water flow.
Currently, the Truong Vinh Ward Police have received information about the incident and are conducting an investigation to clarify the matter.
