One day 5 children tragically drowned in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On May 29, information from localities showed that in Nghe An, there were 3 tragic drowning incidents that killed 5 children.

* In Dien Chau district:At 2:30 p.m. on May 29, three students from Dien Quang Primary School were found drowned in a lake in the commune. Among them, Tran Thanh Trung (5A grade) and Tran Thu Huong (1C grade) are siblings, while Tran Viet Hung (4C grade) is the son of his uncle.

It is known that the place where the children drowned was a lake near the People's Committee of Dien Quang commune, under construction by the water supply and drainage company to provide clean water for the area.

In the immediate future, the local government has supported 5 million VND/case to help the family with the funeral arrangements for the children.

* In Tan Ky district:On the evening of May 29, the family did not see Truong Thi Huyen (14 years old), residing in Hoang Trang hamlet, Tan Xuan commune, return from herding buffaloes. They immediately went to look for her and learned that she had slipped while letting the buffaloes drink water at Vuc Tron stream.

According to Ms. Truong Thi Khoai, a relative of the victim, at around 6pm on May 29, after waiting for a long time but still not seeing her return, suspecting something was wrong, the family immediately went looking for her and discovered Huyen's sandals right on the bank of Vuc Tron stream (about 500m from the house). After 30 minutes of diving down to search, the body was recovered.

Huyen's family burned incense at the area where Huyen slipped and drowned.

Locals here said that a few days ago it rained quite heavily so the stream water rose high, some places were very deep and had lots of rocks. Where the incident happened, the water was about 4-5m deep, surrounded by dense trees, and there were no houses.

It is known that Huyen is a 7th grade student, very obedient and polite, her family is poor, her mother has to work far away, so she lives with her grandmother.

After the tragic incident, the victim was brought home for burial according to custom. Local authorities and people promptly visited and encouraged the family to overcome the pain.

* Previously, in Yen Thanh district:At about 1:30 p.m. on May 29, IBui Thi Thu Trang - student of grade 12 A6, Yen Thanh 2 High School,Trang and 2 girlfriends went to Ly Thanh commune to play. When passing the Dau Ly water control sluice on the Nong Giang Cai River system from Do Luong district to Quynh Luu, Trang went down to wash her hands at the riverbank and slipped into the rushing water. The 2 girlfriends who jumped in to save her were also swept away by the current.

At this time, many people working in the fields came together and rescued the two children, but Trang was swept away by the water.

Upon receiving the news, from the afternoon of May 29, the Yen Thanh District Military Command mobilized over 100 militiamen, on duty in 5 communes of Ly Thanh, Nam Thanh; Lien Thanh; Bac Thanh and Xuan Thanh, along with 2 motorboats to search for the body of the unfortunate victim. Due to the deep riverbed and strong currents, Trang's body had not been found until 10 p.m. the same day. Currently, the rescue work is still continuing.

It is known that female student Bui Thi Thu Trang is an excellent student, active in all school movements. In grade 11, she won the Encouragement Prize in History in the provincial excellent student competition.

Right at the beginning of summer, drowning incidents occur continuously. This is something that families, authorities and local organizations need to make more efforts to manage their children and effectively implement solutions to prevent drowning.
