A deputy editor-in-chief has had his press card revoked.

On October 13, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan signed Decision No. 1750/QD-BTTTT, revoking the press card of Mr. Ho Minh Son, who works at the Mekong Times newspaper.

This is based on Decision No. 37/HKTVLC dated October 3, 2017, of the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Economic Cooperation Development Association regarding disciplinary action against leading officials of the Mekong Times Newspaper and Decision No. 478/B.TBMK dated October 3, 2017, of the Mekong Times Newspaper...

Authorities have decided to revoke the press card number IBT03401, valid from 2016-2020, issued to Mr. Ho Minh Son at the Mekong Times newspaper, because Mr. Son violated point c, clause 6, Article 28 of the 2016 Press Law. He was dismissed from his position as Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Head of the Mekong Times Southern Regional Representative Office by his managing agency and subsequently terminated from his employment by the Mekong Times newspaper.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has requested the Editor-in-Chief of Mekong Times to revoke Mr. Ho Minh Son's press card and submit it to the Press Department before October 31st.
