One department in Hai Duong has 44 leaders: 8 deputy heads have requested to resign.

Minister of Home Affairs Le Vinh Tan said that after the inspection, one colleague requested a transfer back to his old unit, and seven colleagues requested not to accept the position of deputy head of department.

The issue of the Hai Duong Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (LĐ-TB&XH) having 46 civil servants, 44 of whom hold leadership positions at the department level, was raised during the question-and-answer session with Minister of Home Affairs Le Vinh Tan in the assembly hall on the afternoon of November 16th.

The Minister stated that the media reports regarding the situation in Hai Duong province where 44 out of 46 civil servants hold leadership positions are true.

Following the Government's directive, the Ministry of Interior conducted a state inspection of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Hai Duong province. The Minister also stated that the People's Committee of Hai Duong province has not yet issued regulations regarding the number of deputy heads of departments at the division level.

For the Hai Duong Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, which has 9 departments, there are 4 leaders plus 27 additional staff members, leaving 8 deputy heads of departments in excess.

"After working with Hai Duong province, one colleague requested a transfer back to their old unit, and the remaining seven colleagues requested to withdraw from the position of deputy head of department," the Minister of Home Affairs explained the situation to the National Assembly.

The Ministry of Interior has requested the People's Committee of Hai Duong province to direct the Hai Duong Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to strictly adhere to regulations regarding the standards and titles of department-level officials. Promotions must meet the required conditions and follow the correct procedures.

At the same time, strict measures will also be taken against those who advised or recommended the promotion of more people than the prescribed number, causing public outrage recently.

Previously, in mid-October 2016, the press reported on the rampant recruitment, promotion, and appointment of officials and civil servants at the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Hai Duong province.
