The People's Committees of provinces and cities shall develop a comprehensive plan for the rearrangement and reorganization of villages and residential areas, to be completed before June 10, 2026.
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra recently signed Directive No. 21/CT-TTg dated May 20, 2026, of the Prime Minister on the reorganization of villages and residential areas, and the arrangement, utilization, and policies for part-time officials at the commune, village, and residential area levels.
The directive sets out several important deadlines, such as: People's Committees of provinces and cities must terminate the activities of part-time officials at the commune level before May 31, 2026; People's Committees of provinces and cities must develop a comprehensive plan for rearranging and reorganizing villages and residential areas, to be completed before June 10, 2026.
The People's Committees of provinces and cities shall direct the People's Committees of communes to develop a plan for rearranging villages and residential areas; organize public consultations in accordance with the law and submit the plan to the People's Council of the commune for approval, ensuring transparency and consensus during implementation; and complete this before June 30, 2026.
