Mourinho criticized his players as 'childish and immature' after the draw against Leicester.

The Manchester United manager believes his team squandered too many opportunities when they were leading and playing with a man advantage, but ultimately failed to secure the three points.

"It should have been an easy win," Jose Mourinho told Sky Sports. "We did everything to win, but Man Utd were just kids in the box, both in their own half and the opponent's. Mistake after mistake, and we were punished by losing two points at the end of the game."

Mourinho's team fell behind on the evening of December 23rd, but came back thanks to a brace from Juan Mata. Man Utd led for the last 30 minutes of the match, and played with a man advantage from the 73rd minute, but conceded an equalizer in the fourth minute of added time in the second half.

"We didn't win because we wasted too many chances. The scoring opportunities slipped through our fingers as if it were a joke," the Portuguese coach said, harshly criticizing his players. "Manchester United not only missed scoring opportunities, but also lost possession. I felt like those were childish turnovers."

The team nicknamed "The Red Devils" conceded the decisive goal while Chris Smalling was injured and sidelined. "There was no maturity in the last-minute defensive situation, when Smalling was having problems. My players reacted too slowly, and they didn't adjust quickly enough to deal with Leicester's attack," the 54-year-old manager said angrily.

When pressed by reporters about why Man Utd let the victory slip away, Mourinho curtly replied: "I don't know." He then added: "What more can I say when the attack keeps refusing to score more goals, and the defense makes a silly mistake?"

The former Chelsea manager also revealed that he told his players at halftime, "This is an easy game." The second half unfolded much as Mourinho predicted, with Man Utd pressing and scoring a second goal. However, they couldn't maintain their lead until the final whistle.
