According to the Manchester Evening News, Rowe was previously an assistant to coach Travis Binnion at the U21 team. In the summer of 2024, he joined the U21 team under a "player-coach" model – a practice previously undertaken by Paul McShane and Tom Huddlestone – and was judged to have performed exceptionally well compared to his senior teammates.
The shift to coaching the U15s reflects MU's priority for foundational training, during the transitional phase when players move from youth football to preparing for professional academy play.

One highlight of Rowe's work is his ability to connect with young international players. He proactively learned French to better communicate with Sekou Kone, the Ivorian newcomer who joined in 2024, thereby directly assisting him in tactical analysis sessions.
Coach Travis Binnion shared: “Rowy has worked wonderfully with him; they have a very good relationship. I joked that Rowy must have just been on vacation in Southern France because his French has improved so quickly.”
Binnion added: “The number of working sessions they did together was truly impressive. We gave Rowy that responsibility. They analyzed tactics together, then translated parts for Kone with the help of a language assistant. Rowe even took language classes to better understand the language and worked directly with the interpreter during video screenings.”

Over the past two years, MU has recruited many young talents such as Chido Obi, Samuel Lusale, James Overy, Sekou Kone, and others. The academy's development system operates in stages, with a specialized support framework.
