Will Manchester United reunite with Paul Pogba for a third time?

Following an 18-month ban for testing positive for the banned substance DHEA, Pogba is officially permitted to return to professional football from March 11, 2025. Initially, he was banned for four years, but after a successful appeal, the penalty was reduced. The 31-year-old had not played since his last appearance for Juventus in September 2023 and was subsequently released from his contract with the club.

Currently, Pogba is a free agent and can sign with any club outside of the transfer window, as long as that team has a vacant spot in their starting lineup.

Some people suggest Manchester United could be a potential destination for him, but this is highly unlikely. Although MU still has a player registration slot until the end of the season, their tight financial situation and policy of prioritizing youth development make it difficult for them to consider bringing Pogba back.

Fabrizio Romano also dismissed rumors of Pogba's return to Old Trafford. In a recent statement, Romano affirmed that there have been no negotiations between the two sides: "At the moment, I know nothing about this. Nothing at all."

As for Pogba, although he could sign a contract now, he's not in a hurry to find a new club. The French midfielder plans to wait until the summer transfer window to make the best decision for his career.

Furthermore, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has no plans to sign free agents. When asked about the possibility of adding players given the squad's lack of depth due to injuries, Amorim affirmed that he would prioritize using young players. According to him, giving opportunities to the next generation is essential for MU's sustainable development, in keeping with the club's history.
