MU 'calls back' Pogba amidst crisis.
Amidst Manchester United's deep crisis, the idea of signing Paul Pogba on a short-term contract has unexpectedly emerged as a potential solution.

After serving a doping ban, Pogba is expected to return to the pitch in March. During his two stints with Manchester United, the French midfielder made a total of 233 appearances, scoring 39 goals and providing 48 assists. These numbers partly reflect his inherent talent.
Upon his return to Old Trafford in 2016, Pogba was one of the most sought-after midfielders in the world. However, his time at Manchester United did not go as smoothly as expected, marked by persistent injuries, inconsistent form, and off-field controversies.
Many fans breathed a sigh of relief when Man Utd let Pogba leave on a free transfer in 2022. However, given the Red Devils' serious personnel shortages, considering bringing Pogba back is no longer such a "crazy" idea.
Manchester United are facing a difficult squad situation as a number of players such as Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, and Mason Mount are all suffering long-term injuries. Even in their recent defeat to Tottenham, Victor Lindelof was the only player over 19 years old on the Man Utd bench.
Former football legend Rio Ferdinand is also one of those who have voiced their support for the possibility of Pogba rejoining his old club. According to him, Pogba may not be a long-term solution for MU, but he can bring the creativity and dynamism needed in the short term.
Coach Ruben Amorim often prioritizes a physically demanding style of play, high-intensity pressing, and mobility in midfield. These are not Pogba's standout strengths. However, if deployed higher up the pitch as one of the two attacking midfielders, Pogba can maximize his creativity and incisive passing abilities.
In fact, Man Utd currently has one of the worst goal-scoring records in the Premier League, with only 28 goals in 25 matches. Pogba may no longer be at the peak of his form, but with his exquisite individual technique, sharp tactical vision, and superb passing ability, he could absolutely help MU solve their creative problems in midfield.
From Pogba's personal perspective, a three-month short-term contract could be an opportunity for him to prove that he is still capable of playing at the highest level. If he performs impressively, Pogba could well open the door to joining another big club this summer.
Furthermore, after a long period of inactivity, Pogba may no longer demand the exorbitant salary he once did. Adding to this, Aston Villa is currently paying 75% of Marcus Rashford's salary under a new agreement, meaning MU's wage bill could be sufficient to cover a short-term contract with Pogba.
Another option is for MU to negotiate a contract that pays based on the number of appearances to minimize financial risk. If Pogba doesn't live up to expectations, MU wouldn't suffer too great a loss, as their chances of qualifying for European competition next season are almost gone.
In a different context, Pogba's return to Man Utd might just be a harmless rumor. However, given the current severe shortage of personnel and lack of ideas, this could be a worthwhile gamble for the Red Devils.
Pogba may not be a perfect solution, but with just a few moments of brilliance in the remainder of the season, he could help the team, currently languishing in 15th place in the Premier League, somewhat alleviate the disappointment of a turbulent season.
