For illegally buying and selling 100 grams of methamphetamine, the perpetrator was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
(Baonghean.vn) - Lacking a stable job, Nguyen Thi Thuy devised a way to make money through illegal means. Thuy traveled all the way to Hanoi to buy methamphetamine for resale, but was caught red-handed by the Vinh City police.
On September 6th, the Nghe An Provincial People's Court held the first-instance trial of defendant Nguyen Thi Thuy (born in 1983), residing in Tan Tien Hamlet, Hung Binh Ward, Vinh City, for the crime of illegally trading narcotics. According to the investigation results: on January 8th, 2016, a person named Linh asked Thuy to go to Hanoi to meet a woman named Vi to buy 100 grams of methamphetamine to sell in Vinh for profit.
Thuy agreed to go to Hanoi to buy drugs for Linh. Upon arriving in Hanoi, Thuy called Linh to let her know she was waiting in the Cau Giay area. About 30 minutes later, a woman with her face covered appeared and handed Thuy a package of methamphetamine, claiming it was worth 35 million dong.

Thuy gave the money to the woman and then took a bus back to Vinh. Upon arriving home, Thuy divided the methamphetamine into several small packages for retail sale. On January 10, 2016, a drug-addicted friend named Long called Thuy and said he needed to buy methamphetamine for personal use. When Thuy brought the drugs to Tan Tien block, Hung Binh ward (Vinh City) to wait for Long to arrive for the sale, she was caught red-handed by Vinh City Police during a raid, and 2.275 grams of methamphetamine were seized.
During an urgent search of Nguyen Thi Thuy's house, the Criminal Investigation Department of Vinh City Police seized three more packages of methamphetamine, totaling over 100 grams.
Nguyen Thi Thuy's actions led to her being prosecuted by the Vinh City Police Investigation Agency for the crime of illegally trading narcotics.
In court, Nguyen Thi Thuy admitted her crime and expressed remorse. Considering that the defendant was a first-time offender and had a good character, the panel of judges sentenced Nguyen Thi Thuy to 10 years in prison.
