Storms and floods swept away 16.5 billion VND in Que Phong.
(Baonghean.vn) - According to statistics from the People's Committee of Que Phong district, Typhoon No. 2 and the subsequent prolonged heavy rains caused damage exceeding 16.5 billion VND to this mountainous border district.

Despite being a mountainous district, the damage caused by Typhoon No. 2 in Que Phong district was considerable. The typhoon caused flash floods, widespread flooding, and extensive damage to transportation infrastructure, irrigation systems, houses, and crops in the district.

According to statistics from the People's Committee of Que Phong district, Typhoon No. 2 completely destroyed 9 houses, damaged the roofs of 221 houses, flooded 5 houses, and caused landslides in 24 houses; damaged the roofs of 5 kitchens at Tri Le Secondary School and 3 classrooms at Dong Van 2 Primary School; traffic routes such as Chau Kim - Nam Giai, Muong village - Huu Van (Chau Kim commune)... suffered serious landslides; 5 wooden bridges used by local people in Thong Thu and Muong Ngoc communes were damaged.

Irrigation works in almost all communes in the district suffered serious damage. 47.88 hectares of crops were flooded; 24 hectares of aquaculture area were damaged; 166,173 hectares of rice fields were flooded and buried; and 2 buffaloes were swept away.

To date, local leaders are still directly visiting communes to oversee efforts to mitigate the consequences of the storm, rebuilding and repairing collapsed and damaged houses to help people stabilize their lives.
