What used cars can I buy with 100 million VND?
The following options are suitable for those who need a car at the most basic level, simply for "shelter from the rain and sun" each day...
Daewoo Lanos
|
This model, with dimensions comparable to many current B-segment cars, was designed by the renowned Giorgetto Giugiaro and was very popular between 1997 and 2002. Later, although the Lanos became older over time, its durability made it a popular choice for driving schools to use for their students.
Currently, you can find Lanos for around 100 million VND, depending on the model and the wear and tear of the parts. If well-maintained, the Lanos is fuel-efficient, consuming only about 6.5 - 7 liters/100 km. Parts are inexpensive and easy to replace.
Daewoo Matiz
|
Newer than the Lanos is the Matiz, the predecessor of today's Chevrolet Spark. Used Matiz cars on the market are also priced at around 100 million VND, mostly from 2003-2005.
The Matiz was once very popular with Vietnamese customers thanks to its reliability and ease of use. However, the engine is quite weak, only suitable for short city trips, and the sound insulation is not very good.
Fiat Siena
|
This was once a highly-rated model with many features such as 2 airbags, an entertainment system including AM/FM radio, power windows and rearview mirrors, ABS, power steering, remote door locking... In Vietnam, the Siena has two engine options: 1.3L and 1.6L.
Although it runs smoothly and has better sound insulation than Japanese and Korean cars of the same era (around the early 2000s), the Siena had many minor flaws, mainly due to not being designed to suit Vietnam's climate conditions and the parts being rare and expensive.
Kia Pride CD5
|
Considered a "legendary" model that helped popularize the Kia brand among Vietnamese people, Pride CD5s can still be found in training grounds or in rural areas and small towns.
The Pride CD5 is equipped with a 1.3L inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 64 horsepower. Due to the use of a carburetor, the car may experience difficulty starting in the morning or consume more fuel than usual, requiring regular carburetor cleaning. Its outdated design is also a drawback.
