A disappointing season for center-back Que Ngoc Hai.
The former Song Lam Nghe An and The Cong - Viettel player did not contribute much to his club, Becamex Binh Duong, in the 2023/2024 season.
Towards the end of the 2023 season, Que Ngoc Hai unexpectedly received the "green light" from Song Lam Nghe An to seek a new club. The next destination for the 1993-born central defender was Becamex Binh Duong, with a two-year contract and a "huge" salary (signing bonus of approximately 6 billion VND per year).
Despite high expectations from fans, Que Ngoc Hai's first season at Becamex Binh Duong did not go smoothly. Injuries of varying severity forced the former Song Lam Nghe An and The Cong - Viettel player to frequently watch his teammates play from the stands.
According to statistics, in the 2023/2024 V.League season, Que Ngoc Hai only played in 13 matches (9 starts) with a total playing time of 873 minutes. Excluding the 2021 season – which was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic – this is the season in which the central defender from Dien Chau district played the fewest minutes since joining the Song Lam Nghe An first team (2013).
Que Ngoc Hai's frequent absences have significantly impacted Becamex Binh Duong's strength, especially in defense. It's worth remembering that, in addition to his professional skills as a top-tier central defender in Vietnamese football for many years, the 31-year-old is also a true leader.
In order to best prepare for the 2024/2025 season, the Binh Duong team has made significant personnel changes. The "hot seat" left vacant by coach Le Huynh Duc has been given to former head coach of the Vietnam U20 and U23 teams, Hoang Anh Tuan. Alongside this, several new players have joined the team.
Certainly, the competition for a starting spot at Becamex Binh Duong next season will be extremely fierce. To be favored by coach Hoang Anh Tuan, players must work very hard. And Que Ngoc Hai is no exception. Hopefully, Que Ngoc Hai will no longer be plagued by injuries.
