According to information from the staff and teachers of Mai Son Ethnic Boarding Junior High School (Tuong Duong district), a heavy rainstorm occurred in the area this afternoon at 3:30 PM. The rain lasted for about 30 minutes, causing landslides from the hills to flood the boarding students' cafeteria. At that time, students from Nhon Mai and Huu Khuong communes were also at the school participating in the district-level gifted student selection exam.

After 4 PM, the rain temporarily stopped, and all the teachers and students used brooms to try to clear the mud from the cafeteria. However, due to the large amount of mud and water, cooking is still not possible for the 130 boarding students.
Ms. Pham Thi Hien, in charge of cooking for boarding students at Mai Son Ethnic Minority Boarding Junior High School, said: "Due to heavy rain, the mud has not been completely cleared away, and currently the water drainage system is also blocked by mud, so students have to eat instant noodles temporarily to continue their studies."
