Flooding, electrical short circuit, 9,000 chickens died at a chicken farm in Vinh city
Prolonged heavy rain, rising water, flooded the chicken farm in Nghi An commune (Vinh city) causing an electrical short circuit, suffocating 9,000 chickens.

Mr. Chu Van Mai - Chairman of Nghi An Commune People's Committee (Vinh City) said that on the morning of September 23, Nguyen Ngoc Huy's chicken farm in Hoa Hop hamlet, Nghi An commune was flooded. While concentrating on moving the chickens to a higher place, there was an electrical short circuit. Because the barn was closed, only 10 minutes later the chickens suffocated and died en masse.
According to information, Mr. Huy's chicken farm has a scale of 10,000 chickens, currently 9,000 chickens have died, each chicken weighs about 2.2-2.5 kg. Total damage is about 25 tons of chickens, estimated loss of about 1.5 billion VND.

Currently, the local government as well as mass organizations are mobilizing human resources to slaughter chickens, calling on people to rescue Mr. Huy to salvage whatever money they can. The price of rescued chickens is 40-50,000 VND/kg.
