Leo Minh Hieu was prosecuted for the crime of "Illegal possession of military weapons".
Previously, at about 6:25 p.m. on August 14, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department coordinated with the Traffic Police Department, the Mobile Police Department of Binh Phuoc Province Police, Dong Phu District Police and Thuan Phu Commune Police to stop and check the car with license plate number: 93A-335.27 driven by Leo Minh Hieu, at the toll station of DT741 road in Thuan Hai hamlet, Thuan Phu commune, Dong Phu district.
When checking car 93A-335.27, the police discovered 2 guns and 16 bullets in the car. Leo Minh Hieu confessed that he bought the 2 guns and bullets on social media. Hieu was going to Ho Chi Minh City to resolve a conflict and brought the 2 guns in the car to use when needed.
The forensic conclusion of the Institute of Criminal Science in Ho Chi Minh City on the two guns and bullets mentioned above are military weapons.
Based on the results of the assessment, the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Phuoc Province Police decided to prosecute Leo Minh Hieu for the crime of "Illegal possession of military weapons", issued an arrest warrant for the defendant to be temporarily detained and a search warrant for Leo Minh Hieu's residence to serve the investigation.
