IELTS score conversion rates for over 50 universities nationwide.

Over 50 universities convert IELTS scores into English scores for admission consideration, combined with high school graduation exam scores, with a minimum score of 4.0.

Some universities that accept an IELTS score of 4.0 include the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, Saigon University, and eight universities under the Ministry of Public Security when considering applications based on a combination of high school graduation exam scores and an assessment test from the Ministry of Public Security. The equivalent English score ranges from 6 to 7.5, depending on the university.

Most other schools convert IELTS scores from 5.0 and above, with the most common conversion being 7-8.5 points for English.

At many universities, candidates who achieve an IELTS score of 6.5 can have their score converted to 10 points in English, such as the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, the University of Electrical Engineering, Hanoi Open University, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, etc.

Some schools only convert scores when candidates achieve an IELTS score of 8.0 or higher.

Some universities only convert the maximum score when candidates achieve an IELTS score of 8.0 or higher, such as the Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, CMC University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, etc.

According to the recently published university admissions regulations by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry requires universities to publish a conversion table for foreign language certificate results that includes at least 5 different score levels corresponding to the scoring scale of the certificate used.

This regulation aims to address the issue of schools converting a wide range of certificate scores into a single, very high score, sometimes even 9-10. For example, a candidate with a 6.5 IELTS score and a candidate with a 9.0 IELTS score are both converted to a 10, causing unfairness.
