Murray and Federer easily reach Wimbledon quarterfinals
Both championship candidates won in three sets against opponents who were considered difficult to play.
Andy Murray defeated young talent Nick Kyrgios 7-5, 6-1, 6-4. His opponent in the quarterfinals is Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The Frenchman advanced after compatriot Richard Gasquet retired in the first set due to injury.
Murray only struggled in the first set of his match against Nick Kyrgios. The world number two had to wait until the 12th game to score his first break point and deny his opponent any hope of taking the set to a tie-break.

In the second set, Kyrgios only won his first service game and lost five games in a row, being broken twice. The 21-year-old played better in the final set. However, a single break point in the third game was enough for Murray to win the match.
Earlier, seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer defeated Steve Johnson 6-2, 6-3, 7-5.. Just like Murray, Federer had no trouble and did not need any tie-break to defeat his opponent.
The 34-year-old broke twice in the sixth and eighth games to take the first set quickly. The second set did not go so well for Federer. His first serve percentage dropped to 58% but a single break point in the fourth game was enough for him to lead 2-0.

In the final set, Steve Johnson broke first but let Federer tie the score at 5-5. The Swiss player won the last two games in a row, scored another break-point and ended the match.
Federer's quarter-final opponent is 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic. The Croatian advanced when his fourth-round opponent, Kei Nishikori, withdrew due to injury.
Federer and Murray are in different semi-final brackets and are likely to face each other in the final. Sam Querrey, who beat Djokovic in the third round, advanced with a 6-4, 7-6, 6-4 win over Nicolas Mahut. Querrey's next opponent is sixth seed Milos Raonic./.
