The US and UK sign a $340 billion agreement.
On September 18, US President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed a technology cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral collaboration in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and nuclear energy.
This event took place as part of US President Donald Trump's state visit to the UK.

Speaking at his Chequers estate in Buckinghamshire in southeastern England, Prime Minister Starmer said the deals and investment commitments had broken all previous records, totaling around £250 billion ($340 billion), asserting that "this is the largest investment package ever in the UK," and describing the agreement as "a breakthrough."
Of these, US corporations have committed to investing around £150 billion ($204 billion) in the UK, with Blackstone alone pledging £90 billion ($122 billion) over the next 10 years. Conversely, the British pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has committed to investing around £30 billion in the US. Details of the remaining investment figures have not yet been released.
According to the British Prime Minister, the agreement focuses primarily on artificial intelligence (AI), with investment commitments from leading technology companies such as Nvidia, Nscale, OpenAI, Google, and Salesforce, and is expected to create around 15,000 jobs in the UK in the coming years.
The British leader also stated that the package includes a new agreement on cooperation in civilian nuclear energy, with plans to build 12 state-of-the-art nuclear power plants in Northeast England to supply electricity to millions of households and businesses. This will help reduce the cost of living and enhance energy security on both sides of the Atlantic.
A press release from the UK Prime Minister's Office highlighted this as "the largest trade deal ever made during a state visit," demonstrating the strong growth of economic cooperation between the US and the UK.
For his part, President Trump has once again affirmed that the relationship between the US and the UK is "special" and "inseparable".
