At a press conference, FBI Director James Comey declared: "We have found no credible threat here (in the US) like the attacks on Paris." Comey emphasized that there was no connection between the attackers and the United States.
These statements from US authorities were aimed at reassuring the public after ISIS released a video showing a man carrying a bomb threatening attacks on iconic US landmarks such as the White House and Times Square.
According to the head of the US counterterrorism agency, "ISIL (another abbreviation for IS) and its supporters are publishing a variety of videos and magazines, but this information is not reliable."
Currently, the US is focusing on tracking "lone wolves"—individuals obsessed with ISIS's extremist ideology on the internet. According to US Attorney General Loretta Lynch, since 2013, the US has had more than 70 individuals directly or indirectly linked to a terrorist organization, either domestic or foreign.
